Disputing a debit, how does it work?

A recent 'free trial' beauty product has debited from my bank account. It's clearly a scam, I did read the small print and knew to cancel within 14 days which I did via phone. The company has debited from my card anyway. I contacted my bank told them I had cancelled the auto subscription, they say once the payment has cleared, currently pending, they will dispute the amount. But as I have no written proof am I likely to be successful at getting a refund? The lady at my bank seemed aware of the company Derma Youth Pro so clearly they have done this a lot. How long does this kind of thing take?

  • You and hundreds of other people - yes you will get your money back - normally the goods do not arrive so you chargeback the transaction.
