Does anyone own a B max?

..Can I ask, why?
Helping a friend to look for a new car and the Bmax was on their list.. so we sat in one.. What a horrid thing it is.
Because it has no B pillars, the front door latches are very ugly and in your face, literally.
The cabin felt cheap and flimsy.
Then I slid the rear door open and noticed that they go further back than the actual car and overhang the tailgate by 6 inches.
Once in the back, the rear seats were very cramped if you wanted to ferry three people about. Then when you wanted to get out, your arm got pressed against the door when you opened it.
Again, the door latches were very in your face and ugly looking.
The boot is very small.
Overall, the Bmax is the answer to a problem that didnt exist.
Bad move, Ford.
So we looked at other stuff..
Sat in a new shape Nissan Cash n' Carry. They are no better! The door cards all wobble about when you put the windows up/down. The front arm rest felt like it would only last a few weeks use. Boot lip is quite high.
Vx Mokka - surprisingly nice. Front arm rest gets in the way of changing gear/using handbrake.
Cmax - can't see end of bonnet, but did have parking sensors and that fancy park assist thing.
Kuga new shape - Nice car. Elec tailgate won people over, but rear seats not very comfy.
Not the most interesting selection of cars, but if it was my money I'd prob pick the Cmax (pity they never did them with the 2.5T engine)

My parents had a new bmax on that motability scheme for my dad. Its an automatic too, said its the worst car they've had since his old non turbo diesel ford orion company car inflicted on him 20 years ago. Looked good on paper.
With a toddler seat in it is pretty much impossible to sit 3 in the back, boot isn't that big either. I think if he died with this being the last car he had he'll be one p1ssed off poltergeist.
BMW 2 series active tourer looks ok, 460 litre boot which is bigger than a cmax. Looks quite pricey though but probably the only people carrier type car I'd consider owning.0 -
I guess it's all subjective.
Haven't got a B-Max, wouldn't buy one either as i didn't see the point in it.
I'm also a bit unsure about how a car with no B pillar is going to act in a side on impact.
Possibly nothing to worry about but overall i'm not convinced.
C-Max. Dads got one. Nice enough car. Agree can't see the end of it when you are driving but, like all things, it's something you get used to.
Rear seats make you feel a bit "perched" on a longer drive but aren't uncomfortable.
Mokka, which you mostly liked, i found to be one of the most hateful things I've ever tested and was incredibly disappointing.
Kuga, again very nice apart from dash centre command bit.
The buttons are idiotically tiny.
God knows how you would operate any of it on the move and not crash.
It's also starting to get a bit silly on price point.
The 2014 QQ i test drove was a gem of a car, especially when comapred to the outgoing model, which did feel like everything was going to come off.
I will agree the door cards don't appear the best / well attached on the new model but it's a damn site better than the old one.
Not sure where you are coming from with the centre armrest. It looked / felt a lot better than a lot of cars I've been in?
Boot lip on that sort of vehicle is always going to be high by virtue of what it is?
I am surprised that anything like this type of car would be different?
My previous car, a Yeti, had a poor load lip and was the only part of the car i actively disliked.
If you think vertically when it comes to the boot space they might find it's a reasonable alternative?0 -
It's one of those old people cars, you know the ones you see ahead and immediately start planning your overtake.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Provided you are in a car over 2.0L in capacity, with >200BHP, three miles of clear, straight, dry road, you hold an FIA Superlicence, or are Darkmatter101 in his M3.0 -
Why consider these crap cars when you could have an M3?
It just makes no sense.0 -
Well todays cars were:
Fiat 500L (dont ask)
Nissan Puke - nice cabin, quite roomy/comfy sat in the back, but a really pathetic boot.
New shape C4 Picasso - decent cabin, roomy, comfy, can't see the bonnet AT ALL.
Most worrying thing was the fact the sunvisors pretty much stick in your forehead when folded away. Not sure what that would do to your face if you were in a crash..
The hunt continues..0 -
ahh B Max.....I had one last year 6mnths old when someone decided to take the front end off jumping lights/junction
trapped in car due to injury for just over 2hrs..fire brigade said worse idea for a car ever..did have one compliment though due to the sliding rear doors eventually managed to bust the driver seat put me on a back board & slide me out & into waiting ambulance....insurance write off best news EVER!Not quite a newbie as you think ;) (the member formally known as philnicandamy!)
