Hi guys
Thought I would share a last update with you all, its a quick one because WOW so much has changed and theres no dramas happening :D

We were approved as full time kinship carers

Shes in School (full time they accepted her as a pupil) :j
Has extra tuition in maths after school once a week
Shes polite, always reports problems with any peers to teachers instead of fighting.
She has so much pride in her appearance & loves clothes
Grudgingly she helps around the house when asked to do so

Now I make her sound like an angel lol, but shes deffo not shes a spoilt teenager with a trashy bedroom :p...but thats the way I like it. Shes enjoying her teenage years as she should be .

Situation with 24 year old male... did indeed come to a head not long after I updated on here back in April.
She called me to collect her and she was crying, hubby drove miles to collect her around 10pm and she didnt appear!! OMG i was out of my mind, good old facebook did the trick I posted him all over and got his addy. Me and hubby went to get her but she wasnt there. (the police wouldnt go there so we had to take that risk) Police found her there 36 hours later..He had assaulted her

He was arrested this time and the evidence i kept was taken away..got him. He has now pleaded guilty to 2 of the main charges (both of which were underage sex offences).
Hes been out of our lives now since May

She now has a boyfriend from school thats 15  and i cannot be more delighted

As a family we have had such a ride this last 12 months and it could have gone so wrong...but it was the best thing I ever did.

Much Love to you all, and thank you for all your support/advice in our darkest hours xx

Thank you very much for updating. I often think of you - especially in light of the Rotherham revelations, which seem not dissimilar to your problem with the 'boyfriend'. I'm delighted things are moving forward in such a positive way. Hopefully your cousin will eventually appreciate how fortunate she was to have had you fighting her corner. I also very much hope that your whole family is enjoying the change.

I think you are probably he most awe inspiring person I have come across.
    . . .I did not speak out

    Then they came for me
And there was no one left
    To speak out for me..

Your threads were some of the most impactful on this board. The fury that nothing could be done about the man, the kindness you showed her, her vulnerability, your daughters' willingness to accept her.

You have sounded throughout like an amazing family. Awesome and remarkable. Thank you for setting such a wonderful example. Thank you for sharing how such things are possible.

I hope your love is returned to you many times over through life, and that your girls, all of them, grow strong.
  • That sounds very good!
  • Ahh what a fab update! Am sad for what happened with the older man, but glad she seems to be building herself back up again.

Lots of love and good wishes :)

Your original thread stuck in my mind and I'm so happy that you and your family were brave enough to stick with her and give her the chance to live her life as a normal teenager. Love to all of you!

What a great update. She's lucky to have you all.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

I'm so glad that all is going well. You should be so proud of yourselves, and her, for managing to battle through what must at times have seemed like an impossible task. I do love happy news :T
