PPI - Submission of letters to Santander

Hi,
New to this forum, I have just used the PPI letter template and sent two letters one to New Day (Was Santander - but still is but under new name) re a Dorothy Perkins store card and one to Santander ref a Debenhams Store Card, both have been returned with a request for a £10 fee for processing, this does not seam right to me. My daughter sent similar letter to Barclays and there was no request for a processing fee, they just sent her a form to fill in to reclaim PPI. Is Santander trying to pull as fast one?
Any help would be appreciated.

They may have assumed you want to submit an SAR (subject access request) i.e. a copy of all the data they hold on you which they are allowed to charge £10 for.
What exactly did you ask for?Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

One of the MSE PPI letter templates does ask for the original Credit Agreement. I assume this is the one the OP has sent. Since the Agreement is not available on closed accounts, it looks as if Santander have replied as if the OP has sent a SAR letter (which does cost £10).
The OP should have ensured he sent the completed complaint template rather than a request for information. No one is "pulling a fast one".0 -

Why does it not seem right to you?
The data protection act says you are within your rights to request information held by a company about you but it will cost £10.My daughter sent similar letter to Barclays and there was no request for a processing fee, they just sent her a form to fill in to reclaim PPI.
This will depend on how the request was worded and how it has been interpreted. Barclays appear to have considered it a PPI complaint and sent their form. The other two seem to have considered it a request for information.
What did the letter say? (if you requested information then the £10 is correct).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Many thanks for the reply's, would appear that I have used the incorrect template. Will send the complaint template. Hope this bring the result we are hopping for.0
