How to go about selling on Facebook?
Ballistic
After paying my eBay fees today, feeling like is it really worth it?? Yes in reaching a wider audience, but at the same time im in no real rush to sell. I was thinking of trying alternative methods, someone mentioned selling on Facebook.
Now I don't have a Facebook account, so I'm guessing if a fresh account pops up selling mobile phones, it's not going to attract any real buyers?
Can someone give me a quick guide to how I sell on Facebook? Would offering PayPal as a method of payment be safe in there or would it be connection only?
Thanx.

Also I don't really sell to international buyers on eBay, because of all the negative stuff I've heard, is there a way to sell globally but without the risk of chargebacks etc?0

Facebook doesn't work like eBay. You set up your account and you then trawl all your local selling groups to add adverts for the things you have.
Each selling group will, have its own rules, some allow only a certain number of posts before you have to setup a photo album, some wont let you have a photo album but will allow only a certain number of posts a day. There are also rules about bumping posts.
Most of my local ones also want a seller to state whether item has been listed on other sites. Many only allow cash sales, although PayPal is becoming more widely used now.
Think of it more like the small ads, so you will only be listing it to local people and you set your own rules. However, if you do take PayPal and post things out then you are subject to the exact same rules as if you sold on eBay. About 90% of my face book sales are cash on collection, and I get about a 50% failure rate on collection. Unlike eBay though, if someone doesn't turn up you just readvertise until someone does. Do read the rules of each selling group though,as some of mine require me to wait 24 hours after a failed collection before I can readvertise.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Better than Ebid, but frankly poor, although I suspect the areas I sell in are partly to blame. The stuff that seems to sell locally are the fake designer bags and things like Ugg boots for babies, both of which are outside my comfort zone (ie not with a barge pole)
When I offer my eBay stock items on Facebook I have to virtually give it away to get any interest, and even then half the people who say they will collect just don't bother.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
