PPi Bank refusal

My brother made a claim to his bank and was told that he did not have any redress. After contacting one of the claims firms he was awarded some £2500. This was after deducting the fee for the claims firm.
Is there any way to claim this fee back from his bank.

No, your brother employed a claims company to represent him in his complaint of his own volition. The same free-to-use complaint process was used in both instances. Your brother should have persevered alone if he didn't want to incur claim company commission. Using the claims company didn't have any influence on the later success of his complaint.

no, he got the claim firm to work on his behalf for a percentage of the total amount that the bank paid out. The banks responsibilities are complete once they have paid out and whatever was agreed between your brother and the claim firm hasn't isn't really anything to do with the bank.

Following the refusal, he could have gone to FOS free of charge and, presumably, achieved the same outcome.

The complaints process is free and doesnt require any 3rd party to be involved. He employed the company to do something he could have done himself. It's his fee.

    Thankfully not.

It was his choice to employ someone to use the simple free of charge complaints process.
