Bank charges - hardship

Hi new to posting here - but have followed over the years. I actually got to the stage of having a court date set for hearing of bank charges - when block on reclaiming was put in place several years ago. Have therefore felt particularly aggrieved re charges.
I have recently been diagnosed and had major surgery with regard to cancer. Having lost an anticipated income over a three month period quite recently - would I be able to claim with regard to my current hardship situation?
I appreciate the lapsed time - but financial support at this time would be a great help.
Grateful for any feedback.

You are not putting in a claim. You are asking the bank for a goodwill gesture on the charges given your current financial hardship. The bank will look at your spending habits (to see if you are really in hardship and not just overspending), consider your financial position and then decide if they wish to offer a solution (which may not be a refund of charges but could be suspending charges going forward for a period or only refunding the last 6 months or a combination).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
