Hi

I have been switching gas and electric suppliers on a yearly basis for the last 7 years.
My current nPower fixed deal comes to an end in November. With this deal there are no early exit fees but when I've compared for better deals nearly all of them have an early exit fee.
With my previous deals as there was no early exit fee I could switch whenever I wanted to but the best deal I've seen at the moment is with eon which is fixes till October.
Let's say I switch from nPower to eon tomorrow.
In 12 months time when would I switch to another supplier without incurring the exit fees or higher bills as the switch can take 4-6 weeks

:p Quidco - £98.18 :T

    Hi big-azza

Generally, with our Fixed Price tariffs, you need to complete the term of the contact to avoid an exit fee when changing supplier. Although, as JJ Egan says, there's now a Price Protection Window that gives a further period of price security.

As you say, at the moment, changing supplier can take between 4 to 6 weeks. In this case, starting a switch before the contract ends won't land you with an exit fee provided the switch doesn't complete until after the end of the Fixed Price tariff.

With Price Protection, though, we need to let you know your fixed tariff is ending between 42 and 49 days before the contract ends.

Between this notification period and the end of the contract, we'll not charge an exit fee if you decide to switch.

Also, at the end of all of our contracted products, we won't roll you over on to another fixed tariff. Instead, unless you tell us differently, we'll put you on our standard plan.

This may be more expensive than our contracted products but there aren't any exit fees involved.

Hope this answers your question big-azza.
