3 year fix from Ist Utility

Options
I have just been offered a new 3 year fix on my Gas & Elect from First Utility. Where can I find out if this is a good deal? I am already on a fix deal with First Utility.

This is exactly what I was going to start a thread about. The iSave fixed 2018 offer expires on October 10th so not that long to take it, but I have no idea whether it's worth going for.

Basically, this is what I've been sent...

...............................Your current tariff/ ISave Fixed Oct 2016/ ISave Fixed Jan 2108
No price rises for: ... 11 months ...............25 months ...................40 months
    (Electricity) ................13.24p .....................15.79p .......................16.55p
    (Gas)
    .......................... 4.23p ........................4.49p ........................4.89p

    Any good??

Use a comparison site and work out how much extra you will pay to insure against a price rise .
You should know your past yearly usage and bear in mind that last winter was a warm one .

    Hung up my suit!
Fuel prices are supposed to have dropped so prices should fall in the medium term, so I would not fix. I received my bill from Ebico today and they have pledged no price rises until 2016 anyway.

I have the same offer although my prices are different - wonder why .
Current iSave 14 which runs to next July gives me Elect at 13.52 and Gas at 4.27. The new offer to Oct 2016 - Elect at 15.39 (increase of nearly 14%) and Gas at 4.41 (up only 3.27%) and iSave Jan 2018 offering Elect at 16.02 (up 18.49%) and Gas 4.71 (up 10.3%)

Its impossible to know what to do as new prices will kick in end of this month and there is nothing on Cheap Energy Club comparison with a fix any longer than 12 months and then only offering a saving of c £60 pa.

All the talk is we are heading into deflation now, fuel and everything is going down. You do not want to be on a fixed deal if we are going into deflation. Fixed deals are only good in inflation.

Electricity prices always vary by region.

Increasingly, more and more suppliers of gas also have varying prices depending on region.
