Leaking water valve of some sort. Help please

Hi, just noticed a leak from the valve under the sink. Just a slow drip but fairly constant. Valve looks ready for replacement. Is there anything I should do before somebody can come and sort it?

I've put a bucket under to catch the water...

  • if you aren't using the washing machine valve, get yourself one of these (15mm compression stop end), turn off the water, undo the nut under the blue lever (holding the body of the valve with a pair of grips/spanner), just use the blank end of the stop end ie remove the nut & olive & tighten it up, job done

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
  • Do you mean "leave" the nut and olive, not "remove" the nut and olive?
  • no remove it from the stop end (soz if that wasn't clear) the pipe already has a nut & olive on it so you don't need the ones that come with the stop end

That's what I was getting at. It's the way I read it. Sorry - my mistake!
  • What is the valve actually for?
