Porting Intelligent Finance mortgage, 1 hr phone interview...

We are looking to port our Intelligent Finance mortgage to our new house.

We have been told the process will be a 1 hr phone interview.

We have been with IF for 7 years, always paid mortgage no problems, we are not increasing the mortgage. We are buying a house which costs more than the current house but have equity and savings to make up the difference so that we can port our current mortgage.

Anyone been through similar?

What questions should we expect?

Thanks!

The same questions anyone who applies for a new mortgage would be asked.

1 hour seems like a bit of a let off to me.

Last client I spoke to who had dealt directly with a bank was there for 2 and a half hours.... then told they cant have the mortgage!

The same as if you were applying for a new mortgage. The term porting only relates to the the existing terms and conditions. You still need to pass the lenders underwriting criteria.

From experience with other banks, I suspect it will be just like filling in a mortgage application form - except the Agent reads out the questions, you answer them and the Agent types in your answers. (The Agent may also be able to answer any queries.)

If you want a reminder of the types of questions they ask, IF don't seem to publish an application form online, but here's some other lenders' forms. The questions will be similar:
