Debenhams account cover

I apologise in advance if this has been covered elsewhere but I can't find anything specific to my circumstances.
I signed up to my account instore as I was about to purchase something and the salesperson said there was a promotion if you opened an account. I don't remember signing up for account cover but clearly I must have done. This covered me for sickness, it was certainly not explained to me at the time it would not cover pre existing conditions. I had a couple of years earlier been retired from work on grounds of I'll health with a chronic condition. Do I have any grounds for miselling? Thank you

You can certainly complain the insurance was mis-sold if you were already retired at the time of the sale.
However, if this was prior to January 2005 then that pre-dates the regulation of general insurance sellers and Debenhams can reject any complaint on that basis alone.0 -
Hi money ineptitude Thanks for the reply. Just to clarify I was working at the time but was also in receipt of pension monies so accept probably covered for redundancy, but if not covered for sickness would this still be deemed a valid claim?SCP # 034

You would only have not been covered for sickness directly related to your pre-existing condition. Earlier, you said you were medically retired and now you say you were working?
When did you purchase the insurance?0 -
I was able to work in a less demanding job, to supplement my income. Took out the insurance I believe in 2006. I didn't believe I could claim however I was mentioned to me that the pre existing condition might be a reason. Looking at previous posts it would appear very difficult to pursue a successful claim, just wanted to know if it was worth pursuing. ThanksSCP # 034

The pre-existing condition might be rather a non-starter, but don't let that stop you looking for other mis-sale reasons.so_very_confused wrote: »Looking at previous posts it would appear very difficult to pursue a successful claim0
