Which one should we use?

  • To get all the water out, use both
  • Those are more for draining the boiler
To drain the heating system look for a drainpoint on your downstairs radiators

Use none of those. Turn off the boiler and locate the drain-off to the outside. It will be a stumpy wee pipe protruding to the outside. It will drain your system for you
  • As above, hose pipe onto the lowest radiator in the system. There will be a connector. Might help to open the bleed valve on the radiator above it too, to allow some air to let the water flow. :)

Remember to close all valves operated..

Hi everyone, thanks for your input!

Problem is we can't find the drain valve! We've looked on all the heaters, and outside...though we live in a flat so I'm not really sure where to look outside? :(
  • neither of those doc's will drain your heating if you are in a flat, as above you need to find a doc on the rad valves or pipework
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
  • May I ask a silly question? Why are you draining system?

    Sorry, that was two questions!

The drain plug may not be on the outside, i think you'll be lucky to find it there. Ours is in the kitchen. You need to look somewhere low down in the system where the pipes are by the floor.

It'll be on the lowest point in the system...unless the installer was unaware of the existence of gravity...
