I have an MSI Z77A-G43 motherboard and I am installing 2 sticks of 8GB Corsair memory (part #CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10R0) Which came as a kit.
I trmoved the previous kit
I removed 2 kits of 2 x 2gb each (Hypertec HYUK31312884GB)
The motherboard has 2 black slots and 2 blue one (alternating) so I placed the 2 x 8gb Corsair sticks into the 2 black slots being furthest away from the processor
I'm wondering if it would be ok to insert 2 of the 2gb sticks I have left over into the 2 empty blue slots
Thanks in advance for any advice on this

Mixing brands and sizes is unlikely to cause any significant issues. Mixing different bus speeds etc is something I;d avoid - not going to look up codes to see if they are different or not0

MSI have a knack of colour coding their memory slots in an odd way. Sometimes the colour signifies the different channels, so you put one in each colour. Sometimes it signifies the first lane in either channel, so you put the sticks in the same colour.
Check the manual.
You'll have no compatibility issues, but the speed will slow to the slowest stick, and you'll not get much benefit over 16 Gb anyway. In fact, unless you're doing something very very specialised, 16Gb probably won't be noticeably faster than 8Gb0 -
You put one stick of each matching pair in to each slot of the same colour, and then tell the BIOS you are running in "Dual Channel" mode.
As per Cookie's post, I doubt very much (read that as you won't actually notice) the difference between the existing 4GB and the new 16GB unless you have a VERY incredibly memory intensive application.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0
