How can I get access to an OLD email account??

Just come accross a very old email address that I set up for my hubbies business many years ago - at the very dawn of internet I think!!

Its got lost in the realms of time and was never really used much anyway - but just wondering now if I can resurrect it . Its a @compuserve.com address. I have no record of passwords and things anymore (but could give it a bash! I tend to use a circle of words)
Visited the main compuserve page but no webmail log in type section there.
Anyone???

Have a look at this article, it discusses various CS mail settings, and how to get into them. Might or might not contain what you need.
I haven't been asked to tell you that I'm the Board Drunk for this board. As the night wears on, my posts will become worse, with simple spelling mistakes, inane ramblings, and a blatant disregard for the truth. I have no authority to do anything, so there's no point asking or telling me. If you see me past midnight, please tell me to get my coat and order me a taxi.

If your old email account was on XP then go to outlook then tools, accounts then export pick the account you want then save it to a floppy disk. then put the floppy in new computer and same agin go to outlook, accounts and import the file from the floppy i think the file names are .IAF make sure before exporting.

Compuserve was a subscription based ISP and you had to dial into it directly to be able to do anything with it. Unless you've kept your subcription up I very much doubt the old address will be active. Mine certainly isn't.

Best thing to do is pick up the phone and call their customer services. They'd be able to tell you instantly from your name and address rather than faffing around.

Why are you trying to resurrect it out of interest?

thanks for all the help guys - it sounds like it may no longer be active - I tried to send an email to the address earlier today and its just been returned , no account. Oh well.
We were trying to get to the email as it has still been advertised on various sites on the internet and I wondered if it was receiving enquiries (wanted to get my hands on all those potential customers :p )
