Bought some gammon steaks in Lidl a while ago, on promotion for 99p for a pack of two which I thought was excellent value. I've bought them a few times sice as well, they've gone back up to the normal price £1.69 but still a great price I think.
Normally I grill them, served with spuds of some sort, green beans and a white sauce. But a bit bored of this now.
Any ideas for alternatives?

Hi Lalala,
There's an older thread with some suggestions that might help:
Cooking gammon for tea
Also take a look on google for lots of links to gammon steak recipes.

Thanks for the link Pink
Tee hee 60north I've just "un-frozen" them! Was a bit silly of me really, should have thought whether we actually wanted them tonight.
(As it is DH can't get home because of the flooding so I am having weetabix for tea- can't be bothered to cook for myself. I know that's sooo un-OS!)***Trying hard to be proud of dealing with my debts. Honestly? I blend a tin of tropical fruit ( or peaches or pineapple) add 2tbsp of tomato and woster sauce and 2 tbsp of brown sugar. Blend well. Pour over gammon steaks and cook in oven for just over an hour.
Lovely with baked pots!0 -

make a savoury/fried rice and then put the grilled gammon on top of that, with a fried egg on top of the pile. can't beat gammon and egg0

I like to fry them (having sliced them up) and then add a tin of beans plus some worcester sauce (or brown sauce). Serve with rice or pasta (or whatever). My eyes! The goggles do nothing!0

Evening everyone,
I have a large supply of gammon steaks at the moment but I'm not sure what I can do with them. We only ever seem to have the same way, either with eggs & chips or pineapple and veg.
Does anybody have any ideas on what else I can do with the gammon steaks?

You can chop them up, call them lardons and use them for anything you'd use chopped bacon in, like spaghetti carbonara or potato salad. You can cut them in half, split each half to give two thin slices and call them bacon. You can grill them and have them with gravy, or split thim into two thin slices, wrap them round blanched leeks and top with cheese sauce. Or you can grill them and let them get cold, shred them up and use as sandwich filling, on their own or mixed with sweetcorn and myo.Val.0
