Asked to email my credit report. Is that safe?

HI All,
Mortgage advisor has asked me to send a copy of my credit report. Is that advisable / normal?
This came about since the underwriter emailed that they found an arrangement on my credit history. Underwriter would not be specific about what they found.
Since I wasnt aware of anything Mortgage Advisor recomended I check my own credit report for errors. I found nothing untoward, I have a very good credit history.
Now the Mortgage advisor says the underwriter wants to see the report and I should email a copy of my credit report.
Seems like a pretty unusual way to work, but if it solves the problem I guess I should be happy?
Would you email your full credit report?
Many Thanks for any advice

If the broker/underwriter has requested it, definitely send the report.
Given the details the lender/broker has at their disposal, to have this in addition is low risk.
Typically when conflicting information, this will placate the lender and therefore get you want you want.

The actual underwriter will have seen the full credit report from whichever CRA(s) they use. The advisor (or an internal "underwriter" within the advisor's company), however wont have access to that report and due to the DPA (Data Protection Act), the underwriters cannot pass on information to the advisor.
All the report will do is give the advisor insight into your full credit report and may/may not assist in moving forward with your application.
It is up to you but I would not have an issue sharing the report with 1 advisor, solely for the purpose of the mortgage application.0 -
Myself and my partner emailed copies of our credit reports to our broker at AIP stage.
We were going to post them but the broker said that most people chose to email them and it would just be quicker.0 -
It's a perfectly reasonable request. From a security angle it's probably safer than posting it as most email clients encrypt it anyway. I personally wouldn't have a problem emailing.0

Or give the broker your user name and password (one by phone and one by email if you want to be cautious) let him/her download the document and then you change your password.
90% of our clients either email it or give us access password etc - the rest hand deliver (we scarcely start the advice process without the report(s) on our desk. No report = no DIP, let alone application)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I ask all of my clients for a copy of atleast 1 credit report - sometimes all of them in certain circumstances.
99% of them email it over to me, a minority will have a printed copy available when we meet up.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. OK seems to be fairly normal then.
I guess it will at least help the MA argue the case on my behalf. Here's hoping it does the trick.
