vey lucky - got savings - where to put 'em?

im looking to find a place for £30k for about 6 - 9 months anuy ideas on best 'investment' home for my cash ? dont want to pay down debt as i will need the lump sum in about 1 year

    If you have debts costing over 4% (the net rate from the best current account for 20% taxpayer) then it would seem to make sense to pay them off despite saying you don't want to do that.

    It's only really cheating yourself to pretend you have savings when the net position is less due to debt. The only time it isn't worth paying off is for 0% loans/cards or long term debt like a mortgage.
    Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

    there aren't any "good places" either by the way - just pick an account and put it there.

    over 6-9 months the return will be minimal anyway
