I guess because Archergirl is slightly obliquely suggesting that somebody at Holiday Lettings has misused her card and is warning other potential users to be on their guard.0 -
I read of problems with people paying for holiday lettings where the money went to fraudsters (not Holiday Lettings but a similar business). Could it be that this happened in this case?
If so you may need to check whether you really have rented something or whether this is also a fraudulent payment.0 -
It was a Nationwide card and it would seem it happened when I used Holiday lettings, so I just wanted to warn people to look out for misuse if they use that site.0

Was the payment made by credit card direct to the owner or through Holiday Lettings new Book Online facility? We have rented many properties using the Holiday Lettings site & never had a problem, however we haven't used the new online facility - we usually pay by Paypal or by cheque (for properties owned by those in the UK). Only some properties can be paid through the new Online facility whilst some owners (mainly rental agencies) have their own credit card facilities. The new Online facility includes Payment Protection as HL is now part of Tripadvisor however it only covers scenario where property doesn't exist or is double booked when you arrive.0

As far as I know the payment went through correctly. I don't know how the card got compromised, I just wanted to warn people it did. This was the only time it has been used since Aug.0

I doubt it was compromised on the Holiday Lettings website and used fraudulently so soon after. I would guess it happened in the US as credit card fraud is rife there.0

My guess is that it was in the USA.
Happened to me twice in recent years0 -
I don't think so, it was back at the beginning of august.0
