Limited equipment meal ideas?

Hi, we are mid-renovation and likely to be without a kitchen for the next month, I have a microwave and slow cooker, but nothing else to cook with. Anyone got some easy, healthyish, not too expensive, child friendly meal ideas that I can use? I'm running low on inspiration!

Re the slow cooker - stews and casseroles spring to mind. Must admit I only use my microwave for reheating pre-cooked frozen things, I don't actually cook with it so can't help you there.
  • would it be worth while buying a halogen oven so you can do roast chicken, toad in the hole, jacket pots etc?

    good luck :)
  • I use the slowcooker for whole chicken, ham/gammon joints, pork and recently a beef brisket joint. Meat is very tender. You can then do veg in the microwave.
Also curries are very tasty in the slowcooker, chilli, casserole, the carbs can all be done in the microwave, I have done rice, pasta and noodles although you have to use a bit of guesswork for timings!!

Thanks, I don't really want to shell out for any more equipment as it's only temporary, definitely going to try and make use of my slow cooker a bit more, that list is great!

Ooh, I hadn't really thought of sticking a whole chicken in there, I've mainly done chillis, casseroles etc, but I need to expand my horizons!

Borrow a camping stove, even one of the most basic ones that you use just one pan on really helps with meal choices

I got through my first renovation with a BBQ and microwave (3 months with no kitchen or back of house) and this one we set up a table in the hall with kettle, micro, sandwich toaster and camping stove.
