Good Morning everyone, we had a wet start today but now it's drying off and trying to be sunny. The pots in the garden will need clearing soon as the plants have got straggly and the flowers are all drooping but they've given us a good display all summer long. The veg plots are gradually being dug over and cleared and the garden is looking autumnal with leaves colouring up and falling from the trees. I love this time of year for how it looks and smells, just a hint of woodsmoke in the background and that earthy smell as the leaves break down.
Not a day for going out as we'd planned. We thought we'd go down to the New Forest for a walk and have lunch at a pub but it will be damp underfoot after the early rain today so I think we'll go to one of the local garden centres and collect the free daffodil bulbs they offer by filling the bag they popped through the door. At this time of year there are usually some bargains to be had as they sell off the summer stock that's left so I'll look for christmas presents amongst them.
Hope all the poorlies are coping OK and that today brings all of us a small blessing to make us happy, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all,
Hugs to all poorlies,
Carolbee, what a relief for you, pets certainly do give us heartache at times, worth it though.
Lyla had her big walk early as I'm off out for lunch with a group of old school friends. We missed our meeting in the summer with people being away etc. so am looking forward to it.Need to get a bit of food first so better get ready.Nothing much OS to report really, still following my meal plan though.I have the remains of a chicken that really needs turning into stock today but am pushed for time, cant waste it though.
Have a good day x

Hi all:hello:
Sorry for the late post! Was cleaning the counter tops and decided some of the presses needed cleaning out and tidying up before the weekly shop so am only finished now!
Going to spend a bit of time playing with the LO's and hopefully it will be a NSD
Hope all is well with all and everyone have a safe and happy OS dayNOT BUYING IT 2018!

Hi all; sorry for absence, I just haven't felt up to posting. I'm completely exhausted and have a huge BD taking up all the bungalow.
However... Mr LW managed to go back to work yesterday, (he managed to see GP the day after he was released from hospital and got signed off for the remainder of last week). He's got to go for some tests, a scan on 9th Oct and a singularly unpleasant intrusive procedure on 28th Oct; hopefully then they'll know exactly what's gone on and can tell him more than just haematuria and an enlarged prostate.
Carolbee I bet pudd'n-cat feels better without the furball. Poor mog! Still, thank goodness it wasn't anything worse. Is he amenable to being brushed at all? Might prevent a repeat if you can get him to sit still to be groomed.
I had a lovely little dog here for just two nights Friday to Sunday; a Border Collie/Fox Terrier cross named Patch. Unfortunately I'm not terribly likely to get her again, as she has a "usual" host she goes to, but that host was away herself last weekend, hence I was asked to fill the breach.
My big pal Jessie is coming on Thursday evening, for four nights.
Hoping Mr Elona is doing as well as possible, and that JackieO is well on the road to recovery. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon everyone
Very very stressed here so please forgive me if I have missed anyone needing hugs, I will just send hugs to all of you instead xx
I got an email today from DD school saying that a pupil has been diagnosed with TB and they will be screening all yr11s, which is DD year. It's a very small school with probably only 40 girls in the year. Also I have a horrible feeling I might know which girl it is as DD had said she has been ill and losing weight. It's one of my DD friends who she regularly sees out of school, and she had her birthday last week and the group of them gave her presents and hugs and had a meal together. I really really hope the poor ill girl gets better quickly and my own DD's test comes back clear!
They are giving them a screening on Friday and she will get the results back on Monday. DS1 is due to come back from uni on Tuesday night for a hospital appointment, and he is on immune suppressants so at least we will know by then but I'm just terrified about it all.0 -
how awful Dandy. Fingers crossed that no new cases will be found through the screening process.
Hope the poor girl who has it gets better quickly too poor child.
I remember years ago 2 of the kids my children played with (they were brothers) had TB and all family members and people who they were close to had to be screened. The boys are big strapping lads now though with families of their own. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Managed to get a taxi back from the hospital this morning and also to get some tea, soft drink and a couple of cups of soup down DH .
He had a rest and then managed to eat a big bowl of soup and some slices of wholemeal bread so fingers crossed he is recovering from the chemo last week.
Had a look on ri**tm**e to see if any bungalows had appeared and found our house was now listed there. Impressed with the speed as they only took photos yesterday lunchtime .
Need to use up some mince, veg and a huge marrow so might make a moussaka tonight using marrow sliced thinly. Kitchen is so "tidy" I can't find a chopping board so that should be fun.
Hugs to all especially Molly, JackieO and Mr and Mrs LW"This site is addictive!"

Hello All,
Working away from home today so it's up to OH to do dinner - my guess, rice or chilli or pie and mash. Anything is good at the end of a long day in my book.
I'm still full of cold, which is starting to get rather boring now. Didn't sleep last night where I couldn't breathe:mad:
I have lots of washing to do later and another job to do from home, so a few extra pennies there.
Keeping up with the bubbling - back up to $14 after requesting my first payout now :T
I made butternut squash soup yesterday to use up some things at home. We'd been given the squash, so that cost nothing, we'd been given the onions too, so almost a free meal. But I did have to go out and but a blender (something I've wanted for ages to be honest.) OH loved the soup, despite being very doubtful when I said I was making it. I chopped up some friend bacon to put in too, so that added to it a bit I thought.
I have bananas at home which need to be transformed into something tasty, I'll see if I'm up to that tonight, but I won't be home until 7.30pm at the earliest. Working away tomorrow, then from home again for the rest of the week.
Hope everyone is keeping the bugs at bay better than I am!!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Evening all,
Hugs for those that need them and their loved ones.
Been busy today what with work, having my hair done and catching up with a friend for coffee.
Home now and just waiting for dinner to cook. Forgot to take something out the freezer this morning so DH has a kiev and I've got a fish piece in sauce with veg and spuds.
Have a good evening all0
