I bought a desk lamp from ikea, thinking LED is efficient. Well I think I've wasted my money because it's not as bright as a fluorescent bulb and produces much more heat. update, the ikea bulb is rated at 11w, not 6. my fluroscent bulb is rated at 12W.

I took the lampshade off the led, and it is definately a lot dimmer than the cfl room light.

e.g. the led bulb with the lapshade removed still manages to light up a quarter of the room. the cfl reaches the entire room
