notice period

I'd like to serve notice to vacate my property at the end of Jan. I pay rent on the first so does notice need to be served on Dec 31st or Jan 1st?
Are you on a periodic tenancy? Notice to be given is dependent on the dates of your rental period which may not be the same as your rent due date.
Read this and come back if you have any further questions.

Ending/Renewing an AST (what happens when the Fixed Term ends?)(What is a Periodic Tenancy?)(How can a LL remove a tenant?)(How can a tenant end a tenancy?)0 -
We agreed the tenancy would start on the 1st, but I was actually give then keys a week earlier.
I don't think my dates for my renewal this year coincided with the normal dates, so will need to dig out my paperwork, Where would I stand there? (Yes I should have queried it at the time, but I was just so relieved my tenancy was going to be renewed, and it was a week before my wedding, so had my mind on a million other things!)0 -
Yes, we have a 6 month break clause in the agreement, which comes into force in Oct.0

Please state EXACT wording of break clause: (taking out names & addresses). Without that we can't advise.0

I don't have a copy of my tenancy agreement to hand, i have no idea where it is as it was 5 years ago I got it.... will need to dig it out.0

so there is not much we can do in terms of providing meaningful advice.
Dig out the last tenancy agreement you signed, then tell us
* date that fixed term started
* term of that fixed term (eg 6 months)
* exact wording of Break Clause0 -

When I sign my renewals, they are just one peice of paper with the renewal dates and my LL and mine's signatures on them.
Am desperately searching for my original AST, to get the wording for the break clause, but I know it's always a year long lease I sign with a 6 month break clause.0
