Leeds building society wanting proof of address for somewhere I lived three years ago

Hi all,
I'm going to ring leeds building society in the morning when I get a chance, but this is stressing me out so I thought I'd ask you lovely lot.
My husband and I are in the process of buying our first house through shared ownership. We've given all our details and proof to our financial advisor and have started the application with leeds. They are now asking for proof of address for a house we lived in in Wales until sept 2011 (we are nearly in oct 2014- so more than three years ago!) we weren't on the electoral roll for some reason. Now my husband has proof from HMRC, but I have nothing but a car insurance statement and certificate of motor insurance, which they won't accept. My current bank have said they can provide evidence but they will charge me £15 and it can take up to 40 working days to process. I'm a little annoyed that my financial advisor didn't warn me of this ages ago so I could have got the ball rolling.
I've managed to obtain a copy bill from Welsh water but they've said they won't accept copy bills. Anyone have any idea of anything else they will accept? They've already got my printed out experian report which shows me living at the address. My bank statements are all online and only show my current address even when backdated.
Feeling stressed! Please help!

Leeds building society were not an option for my mortgage you know why???
because my deposit money is a gift from my father
so what is the problem?
Leeds building society wants a letter from my father, no problem there I have it! BUT they will not accept it if the person lives outside the UK and my father lives in Italy and is italian!! we have bank statements to prove the transaction and I have copies of his ID as I had to provide all this to the solicitors.
Pah!!!
so am not surprised to hear about the 'fussiness' of your situation0 -
Thing that I'm most annoyed about Is that leeds asked for this info over a week ago and my financial advisor only let me know today. They also deal with Leeds loads and said there is no way a insurance document would be enough, so why didn't they tell me ages ago!

You would have been sent the forms to fill in. Electoral roll history is of primary importance as links your records together. Little point in complaining at others now.0 -

We're we? We were informally renting from a friends mum. We've been on the electoral roll everywhere else we lived so I doubt we would have ignored it.
Thanks for your friendly and helpful advice though.0 -

I had this same problem and emailed the council for my council tax bills which the leeds accepted. I was on the electrol role btw.
Leeds do ask for loads of docs0 -

The forms to complete are sent directly to the occupiers of the property.0 -

The council have said they only keep the current years council tax bills, which is fair enough I guess!
I've literally just found my only pay slip wig that address on in 2011 (I keep them all but they are normally addressed to the hospital where I work) so I'm hoping that'll be good enough.
Just waiting for them to ask for a blood sample next

Who lets them know new occupiers are in the property?0 -

yes however the councils DO make mistakes!
I moved into my current house 2 years ago, promptly filled in electoral roll slips which came through the door within a month of me moving in (its a new built house so we were in contact with council re: council tax banding etc)
so there, I did my 'deed' and I went to sleep at night with no worries.
Fast forward a year and a half later the local elections come around, first I was abroad, when I got back I have no polling card.
I call the council only to be told :'no you are not on the electoral roll'!!!
I wasted nearly 2 years thinking I was only because whenever I moved before in my life I always did the same and it always worked (filling in their cards and sending them back).
of course from now on in future I will double check that one too, however now I am showing as not having been on electoral roll for 2 years.
thankfully they put me on it this july just gone, I think I called them about 6 times to double check I was and it is showing on my credit file now too.0 -
Leeds is very fussy. I completed with them a couple weeks back and it took a very very long time. They also 'lost' documents that they later found on more than one occasion.
I am not on the Electoral Roll, but Leeds asked for utility bills for all addresses in the past three years.0
