Leeds building society wanting proof of address for somewhere I lived three years ago

It's the oldest trick in the book by a lender who are snowed under and behind with their processing.... ask the punter for something that is difficult to get to buy yourself time:cool:
Leeds are masters of this, as are KensingtonI am a Mortgage adviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I'm just so worried we'll be turned down. I did get accepted for a mortgage in principle with Leeds. My financial advisor has asked me for the evidence I've got in hope Leeds will use their common sense. I've given them three years worth of previous address proof and I've been on the electoral roll for exactly three years where I live now. It puzzles me as to why they are making a fuss about something more than three years ago!
Thy said they've assessed the rest of my documents and thats all they need now and they've done the survey.0 -
Leeds building society are a pain in the backside, my wife lived in a different city before and we had on going issues with leeds.
Took four months of to-ing and fro-ing before we got our offer, tey dont ask for all paperwork at once and take a week to look at anything then ask something else. And if you get to the month end due to THEIR delays guess what they'll want updated payslips.
Their processes are slow and laborious and helpdesk isn't all that useful and the BDM seems pretty inept too. If I had the choice I wouldn't use them again.
If they take weeks and weeks you might actually be quicker cancelling and going with someone else, we kept getting told a string of lies.. will be done in a few days.. offer is imminent only to be be asked for more paperwork.. why not ask for everything that's required in one go.
My broker isn't using them anymore only as a last resort after the new MMR rules they have become really annoying to deal with and bordering on incompetent at times.0 -

I got my full mortgage offer through the post today from Leeds Building Society it has took just under 5 weeks in total. They did say during the initial application that they wanted proof of 3 years previous addresses. 3 utility bills saved on our edf account were sufficent. Good Luck with it.0 -
Sorry to worry you but unlikely they will accept a payslip, the same as they will not accept a P45 or a P60.
The bank statements may well be your best bet, if you have nothing else - no hmrc tax code notices?
I keep a couple of items from every year, a bill or a tax coding, have them going back years but thats because i work in underwriting so am aware these things are sometimes needed!
May be best just getting on with getting the statements ordered, if not done already, and hopefully wont take that long....0 -
I've sent in my payslip, corrospondance from my bank from December 2010 and a copy bill, all with that address and mostly from 2011. My financial advisor seems to think they'll drop it because it's more than three years ago, but I'm not so sure. If I have to get my letter from the bank it's likely the vendor will drop out and try to re advertise the house, as I can't see them waiting 40 days.0
