sawpping from one 0% card to another affects credit rating?

HI,

I phoned up to cancel my sainsburys Credit card as it was paid off and didnt want it anymore.

Got the sixth degree by the operator on why I was cancelling, basically told her I dont want it as it had come to the end of the 0% interest free period and if I needed a credit card in future I would take out another 0% deal.

She told me that doing this will give you a bad credit rating, is this true?

I assumed it was lies just to stop me from cancelling but I wasnt sure.

She was trying anything to stop me from cancelling except offering me 0% interest!

  • It can affect your credit rating if you apply for too many cards all at once but applying for one each time an offer runs out shouldn't do any harm.
