if someone can have a look at these photos and give me a rough estimate on how much its likely to cost, (based in south wales)
both chimneys are leaking and unfortunately ive had someone "fix it" at a cost of £250 last year, but it seems to be still leaking, so ive decided that im gonna cap them both off , both are shared chimneys and apparently mine only leak, ive also offered to take it all down and go halfs on the costs but still no!
So to cap off (using a paving slab or tile?) how much would i be looking at? i reckon its around half a days work? go up, take pots down, slab over and fill joints, make good?
one chimney has two pots and the other chimney has 4 of mine and 4 of the neighbours

No need to go to the expense and hassle of removing the pots unless it's necessary - all you need are Chimney Caps.
These simply fit inside the pot via a stiff wire with a kind of an upside down tray over the top of the pot to keep birds and moisture out, at the same time though they allow air to come in so you don't get a damp chimney breast. You should never completely block a chimney off or it will lead to damp problems, they need to "breath".

As for costs of going up ? I'm a sweep but I don't do roof work, but I'd be looking to charge £45 per hr plus the caps if I did.You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
We've just had some quotes to get our two chimney pots capped with vented cowls....had quotes ranging from £150 to £280! We've gone with the £190 quote.0
