in Credit cards
Hi,
I have a Barclaycard CC which I will have paid off by the end of the month. I received a letter from Barclaycard to say they will be closing my account once it has been paid off as I haven't used my card for sometime (it was a balance transfer). I had planned on keeping the card for emergencies only and to boost my credit rating. My question is can I request it be kept open? Is it worth it with regards to my credit score? I do already have a Halifax card (paid off but kept open). I also used to have a capital one card but I closed this account.
Thanks

You can ask, doesnt mean they will say yes.
Have you used the card again since?0 -
You can ask them to keep it open, they might say no.
Just keeping a card open won't be beneficial to your credit worthiness, but using it and paying the statement off in full every month will be.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0
