Ive been coming over to the techie forum for a few days now and you guys are very helpful and know your stuff. Just like to say thanks:beer:
Basically my MSN has stopped working. The rest of my internet works fine but for some reason not MSN Messenger. Now im not really bothered about the messenger side of it but i cannot access my hotmail accounts either for some reason.
I have tried going to add/remove and clicking repair to re-install but this hasnt changed anything. I also thought about uninstalling it and re downloading it but i cannot get on to any site to download it.
Every time i try to go on certain websites (hotmail) my computer says this page is not avaliable yet the internet works fine on most other sites.
This is really confusing me and annoying me at the same time as i really need to check my emails.
Anyone know whats going on and more importantly how to solve the situation?
TIA

Sounds like a security issue where you cant access secure websites. Check out this link. You may need to look at your advanced Internet Security but this should guide you through.

Have you checked the "DATE" on your computer? It's a wild shot, but I have seen problems before, accessing certain sites because "certificates have expired", due to your pc having the wrong date.
Worth a quick check

Are you trying to access this via home or work link? I had problems at work, but when at home my laptop connected fine!Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club

Im trying to access it from home. It was working fine last night until about 11pm then it logged me out and wouldnt let me back on even though when i ran the troubleshooter there were no problems.Offical MSE Fantasy League Member:beer:0

Well what I thought was a problem with my computer now appears to be something to do with Orange.
Someone i know has come round (they solve all my computer problems) and has said that he has heard that sometimes Orange blocks things like MSN and Hotmail to stop them from spamming everywhere. I didnt think this was right at all.
So to test it i got the laptop and connected wirelessly and tried to go onto Hotmail and MSN and it does the same thing as the computer.
This could still possibly be a firewall issue as both the laptop and the computer use the same internet. Does anyone know how to check out my firewall and to fix it?
If i havent got it fixed by when i get back (Wednesday) i am going to ring up Orange and tell them i no longer want their internet. I will then search for another provider and it should be ok.
This is really annoying me as i probably have about 50/60 emails in each account (no im not mega popular i enter alot of competitions and do some free click sites:rotfl: )
Can anyone help me?Offical MSE Fantasy League Member:beer:0 -
Hi,
Afraid I can't offer any advice but I'm with Orange and never had any issues with msn messenger or hotmail. Hotmail is my primary email too.
Just thought I'd confuse matters with that!
Hope you get it sorted

Can you access your Hotmail a/c by going to the Hotmail website instead?:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I know i thought that it being a problem with Orange was abit odd but i find it strange that i cannot access the same things on the laptop aswell. Someone told me earlier that it maybe that i cannot access sucure sites? Can a firewall stop this?
No i cant get onto Hotmail at all. I have uninstalled MSN Messenger and it still is the same. Certain sites wont work (MSN, Hotmail & also some of the retailers on the daily clicks on mutualpoints)
I have no idea what the problem could be.Offical MSE Fantasy League Member:beer:0
