Avoid The Yellow Cab Co, Bristol

I had a nightmare with them on Tuesday:
Phoned up for a taxi at 10.45pm and nothing had turned up after 15 minutes and I was told someone would be on their way. At 11.15pm, still no sign. By this time, I was getting rather !!!!ed off. I didn't feel that comfortable standing alone in a strange place in the dark.
A taxi pulls up and I asked if it was for me. Driver checked with the company, said no and gave me his business card. That was around 11.20pm and I then phoned for a taxi from this other company.
My taxi from the yellow cab co. turned up 5 minutes later, with the excuse of being given the wrong address, despite me clearly saying Colston Hall and not Colston Street.
They did call me a few times during those 35 minutes; but when I answered the phone, the line went dead. I did try to call back that number. Again, the line went dead.
It seems I'm not the only person to have had similar problems with them.

At that time of night on a Tuesday should be dead quite with Cabs sitting around doing nothing waiting for the pubs to kick out. Should have been there in 2 minutesLiverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

My thoughts exactly. When I've phoned before and a taxi company has been busy, they've actually said that.
And they were about half a mile away; so no excuse for being so late.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Has uber come to bristol yet? It's an absolute gamechanger for ordering taxis. Tells you exactly where your car is.
I use it a lot on London and it's so easy to use.0 -

In time. They'll get round to it.
Only in London and Manchester.
Next city will be Birmingham.
Obviously they will open up in the most populated cities first.0 -

Cool. Its fantastic. Other taxi companies hate them as they can't compete with a cheaper, more reliable, more convenient service.
I love the fact it's cashless and everything is just charged to your card at the end of the journey.
It's a gamechanger.0 -
Them calling you is called a call back to let you know the taxi is on its way or there. Most Taxi firms have this now.Jan Wins: .0

That's what I thought too. But I didn't recognise the number. (it's different to the one I called)Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Apparently not always exactly where they are.
It's often the information of where the car is (using GPS) takes a while to update on your phone, so there's usually a delay.
Nevertheless, when the driver arrives at your pick up, they will manually press a button on their PDA, which sends a message to your phone letting you know they've arrived.0
