Sorry OP I agree with everyone else, the game isnt faulty and yes Asda are correct.
OP have you posted on any threads relating to the issue on EA forums or send them a tweet.0 -
However, if you start kicking up a fuss the managers will likely refund you because you get your grocery shopping at Asda and that's more important to them. sometimes.0

Just do the fixes and enjoy the game. You bought it to play, and you can play it, you just have to make a few changes and away you go.
Yes, not ideal, but that isn't Asda's fault. Do the fixes given above and wait for a patch.0 -
There is a much easier way to get less lag and much better connection for your console. On your laptop click on your router and go to settings. Then advanced settings and specifically designate your console to DMZ. This will improve your online gaming ten fold. I got my X1 from 98ms ping to 32ms ping just by setting my console to a DMZ.
On your ps4 or X1 do a online connection test in settings. If you are X1 after the test is complete hold all the 4 shoulder buttons on your controller, this will initiate the ms ping test. Then set your console to DMZ and do the test again. Its also worth making sure your NAT type is open and not moderate or strict as this will also make you lag.0 -
I actually play the PC version, not console. Got a high end gaming PC, and have the same issues.
Speaking to the EA specialists, they agree that there wasn't really anything else I can do, and the PC workaround pretty much involve reformatting. The workarounds did not solve the problems, and they agreed it's code related and needs their staff to fix.
Ironically, my copy of FIFA 15 was given to me free by EA, due to FIFA 14 never working as it should! Only game I've ever had problems with.0 -
Another game released by EA that is completely broken.
Sim City
Battlefield 4
FiFA 15
Im seriously giving up on EA games and hope that others do so they learn from their profit margin falling.
As a gamer who has played from the days of Mega Drive, imagine if Sega released a Sonic and it was glitchy as hell and unplayable. They would have gone bust. These days too much is put on there will be a patch etc which means that the games are unplayable for months or in the case of Battlefail 4, still broken in some respects to this day.0 -
If you buy a plant suited for alkaline soil and you try to grow it in acidic soil, the plant isn't at fault, it's the medium you are growing it in.
Same with a game. It's a digital product. a perfect digital replica of a game which others are playing without problems.
No games developer can possibly legislate for every combination of hardware, connection speed, graphics capabilities, wifi strength, etc.
By definition, this perfect digital copy is the same as all the others so you can't take it back like you would with a mouldy piece of cheese!
Your hardware needs to be capable of running the game and it seems it isn't.
It really amazes me how people claim a digital product is faulty, and try to return it when it is their hardware/Internet connection speed/router/wifi etc to blame!0 -
the retailer is only selling you the physical disc/disk (never sure which!) so if that is fine (which it was) they have fulfilled their part of the contract. Same as with a software activation key. all they have to supply is a valid code and nothing further.
It's always worth remembering you never buy software, just a license to use it. That's why refunds and rights are slightly different to other common purchases.
As for major game releases with major online components they will always have issues at launch as so many people are stressing the game company's online infrastructure at once. If you're lucky it will just be sheer numbers the problem and it will settle down but often it needs a patch for you or their servers or both.
Really your only option is not to buy at launch (you'll save money too but may be left behind in experience etc.) or to expect the issues and put up with them.0 -
So what about buying DriveClub on the high street - where do we stand on refunds for that, given it's fundamentally broken for everyone (and Sony have said categorically no ETA on a fix), regardless of your setup at home, and online/social was one of it's unique selling points?0

I'd be tempted to say with Drive Club take it back to the retailer & pray for their best graces, but I would also be sorely tempted to call you all the idiots of the day. That game was bugged to hell & back, it was widely publicised as such (and I mean widely - I don't own a PS4 and even I heard about it!) and thus common sense would dictate you shouldn't have bought the turkey.
Unlike FIFA this is a relatively major issue though as it's ultimately game breaking, FIFA you can play without online, Drive Club not so much. If you want my honest opinion if I were you I'd avoid Project Cars as well, that's smelling funky, delayed by a long time already, recently delayed until new year - doesn't look great.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0
