Tariff ending but moving out of rented accommodation
Options
A relative is a tenant in a shared house, whose landlord has given notice to leave so he can sell up. The fuel contract is in my relative’s name and the twelve-month fix finishes in two days. It automatically reverts to the company’s standard tariff.
Should she let this happen or look for a better rate, bearing in mind she is leaving within a couple of months of starting it? Can she transfer the account to the landlord, and how does she do this? Presumably she cannot transfer the tariff to her next house?
Would she be better off with a standard tariff with monthly bills?

For the sake of a couple of months, it's probably not worth finding a new tariff but some suppliers do allow you to transfer a tariff if you move. That will need to be checked with the supplier.
What is more important is that meter readings are taken on the day the property is vacated. Take photographs, if possible and make sure the readings are given to the supplier as soon as possible. Otherwise, your relative could end up paying for the landlord's consumption until the property is sold.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

She can't transfer it, but when she leaves the contract is voided without penalty. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
