    Unfortunately the RCBO switch seems to take out all sockets in the house not just in that room. If there is any way round this I'd be most interested in case anything like this happens in the future !

    Most houses have a cooker circuit which connects into an isolator next to the cooker, many of these isolators have a socket built into them. That socket is fed from the cooker supply and is separate from the ring circuit.

    FWIW, putting extra screws into floorboards (especially chipboard) which squeak, and which are currently nailed down, will NOT remove the squeak, unless you remove the nails......
