Laptop - not sleeping and no printer

Hi All

Very briefly...

I posted a few weeks ago about my new Toshiba not going into sleep mode, despite following all your suggestions. I took it back to John Lewis, who did some re-sets in the store, which didnt fix the problem, but actually created another - my Canon wired printer wouldn't connect, after their attempts.

So I gave to them for repair, picked it up yesterday and still the same problem - cant set sleep timer and printer wont connect.

Took it back again today, the man in Tech support, says the sleep will only turn off if nothing is running 'in background', but this was never mentioned before, but is that correct? And what would be running, anyway? Also, he said he'd need the prnter there, to confirm what was going on to make that not work. It is an old printer, but was working fine, so expect it will be needed just to buy a new one.

He says he will look at the laptop tomorrow and call Toshiba.

Any thoughts, or input appreciated.
Thanks in advance

VB

Re-Install the printer drivers, They probably erased them.

Yes they did, but even reinstalling, still comes up with printer showing as being 'found' but not responding.

    thanks

  • Reset the printer, Had that with mine when the printers display went to sleep.

Computer couldnt wake it back up. Pressing the buttons woke the screen, But PC still thought it was no available.

Power out of the printer for a minute or two sorted it.
