Housing benefits & new job help

Finally have a job and obviously won't be paid until I've been there a month. How do I get around paying rent and council tax etc as I assume they are stopped immediately?

If you have been claiming an income based benefit for 26 weeks then you may be entitled to a 4 weeks 'run on' of HB and CT reduction.

    Ask at the Job Centre.

and....benefits are paid in arrears at the end of the period you are claiming for so you might still be due a few more payments.

Also, many employers are understanding that switching to monthly pay is difficult for many and after working a week or two they might allow you have an advance on half of your pay due to date repaid out of your next monthly pay.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
