Finally have a job and obviously won't be paid until I've been there a month. How do I get around paying rent and council tax etc as I assume they are stopped immediately?

If you have been claiming an income based benefit for 26 weeks then you may be entitled to a 4 weeks 'run on' of HB and CT reduction.

Also, many employers are understanding that switching to monthly pay is difficult for many and after working a week or two they might allow you have an advance on half of your pay due to date repaid out of your next monthly pay.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.
