For example, if the IP address is 192.168.0.1 then type \\192.168.0.1 in to (say) the address bar of Windows Explorer, press enter, and away you go.
Similarly, you can also create a shortcut on your desktop using the IP address and all you'll have to do is double click on it to bring up a new window showing the contents of your NAS box.
If you are prompted for a username/password, use the same credentials that you use for the NAS box
i can access via ip when at home on my network but not when i am down the pub"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -
That's probably because you haven't forwarded the relevant ports in your router depending on how you are trying to connect.dipsomaniac wrote: »i can access via ip when at home on my network but not when i am down the pub
For example, if you are trying to connect via FTP then you would need to forward port 21 in your router to the NAS box.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car

Really? Let's take a look.
Using Firefox or Chrome, click here for the Bootable USB creation tool.
Once fully downloaded, plug a USB drive in and then double click on the file to run the tool.
Follow the instructions to get to 'Write Image'. choose to 'Format'. Let it complete and then 'Write'.
Once complete, you can plug the USB drive into the offending PC and choose to boot off of it.
Click on 'SLIC Toolkit', let it run and post me a screenshot of the Advanced Tab screen.
Will look like this:

can anyone help?"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -
You probably need to create a user account within FreeNAS that matches the same username/password that you use for Win 7 and set the permissions for that account accordinglyUndersteer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
