Replacing radiators

To replace radiators, all like for like sizes, 5 radiators + changing one from radiator to towel rail - £200 labour
To replace 14 radiators & change one to towel rail (i.e. adding 9 radiators to above quote) plus move kitchen sink 6 inches and adding plumbing for washing machine, remove pipes from former bathroom - £700 - £900
We were a bit surprised by the jump in pricing, reckon we can probably do the kitchen/bathroom jobs ourselves so could exclude those. Plumber's day rate is £156 then he's giving us a friends discount so that seems to be maybe 1.5 - 2 days work for the smaller job but 5 - 7 days for bigger job.

Are you sure the price he has given you is just for labour only?
I guess you will be supplying the radiators and new TRV's - but what about all the waste, copper and fittings required to carry out the other work? And who would be supplying the inhibitor to put in your system when the job is complete? These can add up, depending on the amount needed.
If you don't like his price, move on and find another. But you get what you pay for in this business - pay peanuts and you get monkeys ;-)0 -
