alot of new street lmaps going up around town, does anyone know if you can buy the old ones off the council? would like a nice big yard light as the residential ones you find on the internet arent very tall it seems so curious as to if anyone knows if you can get old steet lamps or even new ones somewhere. thanks.

They can be purchased, they are not cheap, also as everything is going on eco friendly, you may have to buy an led one. Oh and if they are above a certain height you may need planning permission to install it.
Have a look here not street lamps as you are after, but some are 3metres high.0 -

Whereabouts are you? It maybe worth asking where you see them upgrading the lamposts, but the councls may have a contract to weigh them in.0 -

Nothing to stop one installing a 240V fitting though. I have an old streetlamp in my front garden, installed by the previous owner. It takes a standard BC bulb.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230
