HELP I've been over to my daughters since last Sunday, went to check on my blog on Tuesday & it had been hacked by someone selling viagra - of all things! - so my husband downloaded an earlier back up copy of the blog & took it down. Now we are having trouble putting it back up. The way husband has tried only allows 120MB (ish) whereas my blog is over 300. Can anyone give me a hint on how to get it back up?
Absolutely gutted as it was just taking off & my stats where growing steadily each month. Please get in touch with me if you can help I'd be very grateful. xx

Thanks forgetting back to me.
My blog is hosted on hosting.co.uk & I use wordpress to do pages. Sorry I'm not very computer minded!
Husband has tried to copy individual files across, but it doesn't let him do it. He's also unsure how to put them in an empty folder, he keeps getting errors
He has tried installing "Big Dump" but after trying for hours, & I mean hours, he is no further along.
Any help would be gratefully received"Isn't it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?" - Lucy Maud Montgomery :hello:

How has your husband been trying to upload? And what has he been trying to upload? You mention 'an earlier backup' but how was that created?
Your hosting operator should have provided you with login details to your site's C-Panel admin page. You can upload files from there. You should also have been provided with details on how to access your site via ftp- this is a good alternative if you have a lot of files to upload (BTW. 300MB is NOT a big site).
However you should be aware that there is more to a Wordpress site than just files. Most of the content is stored in a database and it is essential to restore this as well.
I'd suggest opening a support ticket with your host: explain your problem fully. Normally, hosting companies back up customers' sites regularly and they will probably be able to restore your site from their backup.
Once you are back in business you should look at ways of avoiding such problems in future. There are 2 Wordpress plugins you might find useful (both are free) :
Duplicator makes a complete image of your site, including the database, which can be easily restored or moved to a new host
iThemes security offers a lot of tweaks to secure your site against intruders0 -
I started to use Sandboxie last week so although it's still new to me i think it's a good site.
It works by keeping anything you look at or download on your computer in 'one little box' so any virus etc can't mess your whole computer.
Have a read about it.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Not sure how that's relevant...
It's not the OP's computer that's been hacked, it's her website.0
