What is this brown/yellow stuff growing on my window?

It doesn't look like rot or mold or fungus photos that I am seeing on google.

Does anyone know what it is? Whether or not it is dangerous? And what steps I need to take to remedy it?

It looks like resin seeping through from the wood knots. If it is you need to sand back, properly undercoat / seal with a specific knot treatment to stop the resin seeping through again, and then repaint.

You also need to reseal the gaps around the rendering with some frame sealant before winter weather gets to it.

What do you mean? What is the rendering? I am new to this DIY. Thanks for your patience.

The rendering is the coating on your walls. There is a gap around your window frame/wall.

It is probably more important to seal the gap around the frames than to worry about the resin that is seeping from the knots in the woodwork.

Why is that? I will do it on my next weekend off!:j

Resin seepage from a knot is more likely to preserve the wood than to damage it. It is a purely visual thing which can be attended to at leisure. But rainwater driven into a cavity could do unseen damage to the fabric of the house. If there are gaps around windows and doors then the fabric of the house is not water tight.
