Non chocolate advent fillers

Options
Ok, this might seem a little childish to some but me and my boyfriend make eachother an advent each year. We have those fabric pocket calendars (the pockets are fairly big) and fill them with items.

I tried to vary it last year but his still ended up with a lot of chocolate and sweets. I know people who post on these boards have great ideas so wondered if anyone could think of anything.

I've already thought of:
Bag of nuts
Miniature whiskey
Aftershave sample
Scratchcard

I tend to vary the item value with lots of cheaper items and then a few more expensive ones.

Any further help would be appreciated.

Some IOU's ie for breakfast in bed, lunch, or something special ;)

I do paper clues in my children's and hide something that won't fit in somewhere else, means you aren't limited on the size.
  • When I did this for my fianc! two years ago I included a small chocolate and a paper chain strip with something I loved about him written on it. We then linked the paper chain together each day.

Me too and the older they got, the more cryptic you could make them.

Does he drink herbal/fruit tea? If so what about a tea bag or two. You can buy a multi pack and split, or you may be able to get some samples if you know anyone who uses hotels and can pick some up.

Have you had a look at the freebies board to see if there's anything for you to send off for, to keep costs low?
  • Thanks all. Came back to see loads of ideas :) Have a growing list now and will be using a fair few of your suggestions.
Spendless - thanks for pointing out the freebies board, hadn't thought of that.
