Video conversion software

Hi there,

A friend of mine has recently bought a DVD camcorder that records in this format and he would like to be able to do some basic editing in something like Windows Movie Maker or ULead video studio but they dont like the .vob format.

Does anyone know of a decent free program that will convert .vob files into mpegs? I've seen there are some progs that do free trials but they will only convert say half the video until you buy the program. Whilst I'm not adverse to paying for things occasionally, I'm sure there must be something out there!!!

Change the name of the file extension from .vob to .mpg or .mpeg
Otherwise you can use; http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/
