projector spec

I am looking for a projector for a work lap top (typically used for CAD demonstrations)
Ive seen plenty with hdmi connectors but the specs state 'native' resolution as low as 320x240. I have no experience but I assume that means the picture is relatively rubbish.
Does anyone have recent experience of purchasing a projector for a lap top and getting a decent resolution out of it. Am I right in thinking that the spec 'native resolution' is a good guide to the quality of the pic (ignoring other factors such as contrast and brightness etc)
The laptop itself is 1920x1080.
Thanks for any advice.

I remember Epson and Acer having 1920x1080 resolution but that's more for home cinema in 3d.

If its for a laptop would a portable one be more suitable?
