E.On, Electricity, Final bill after leaving property on a pre-pay meter.
Good afternoon all.
Myself and the family have recently left a rented property after finally buying a place (Huzzah)
We were in the last property for about 2 and a half years.
It had a prepayment electricity meter fitted when we moved in, it was in credit on that day.
The same meter was in place when we moved out, and it was in credit on that day too.
A few weeks after moving out I receive a final bill for about £105!?
How can this be? I kept my account in Credit the entire time, it takes it's daily 'admin' fee all the time it's running.
If the system was so shambolic as to need topping up by another billing method shouldn't that happen, at the very least, on a yearly basis rather than at end of contract?
This stinks of shameless fishing for cash to me.
anyone else had a similar situation?
cheers.

Hi Ziltoid,
I hope the new house is going well.
When you let us know you were moving home, did you give us a final reading so we can send you an actual final bill, and does the date on the bill match the date you moved out?
Did you have a debt added to the meter that you haven’t paid off yet, or did any of your previous bills indicate a balance? We usually send our prepayment customers a statement at least once a year.
Have you spoken to us about this?
Sorry for all the questions
