Help needed with Trojan Horse !!

I've got AVG installed on my PC. It's just done a scan , and told me that it has found a Trojan horse PHP/MPack/B, status - infected, embedded object, and the same as "infected, archive". Anyone got any ideas what I should do, as I'm very worried about this?

If AVG has found it, it has probably put it in the vault where it can do no harm, but I agree that it's better to get rid of it. Sorry I don't know how and I'm sure someone more experienced will come along soon to advise you, but I thought I would reassure you that there doesn't seem to be an immediate threat to your computer because of that trojan.

Why not instal TrojanHunter? Then run it - it may well get rid of it. Just google TrojanHunter and download.

    :)

I've lost count of the amount of times that I have read that statement.

What about the Resident Scanner? Isn't it supposed to prevent that kind of thing?

Yet people still insist on recommending it as their first choice for free antivirus programs.

download "a squared free " from emi soft , once installed , run the update and then deep scan .

  • Here's a bit of background info on this relatively recent evil which is extremely malicious:

Can I suggest you post a HijackTihs log asap.

If I deleted every file that AVG flags up as a trojan I would have no software left on my computer. AVG is the king of the FALSE-positive

Law of large numbers?... the more people in a forum which use it, the more people who will have issues with it (inc getting infections)...
True though, supprising how many users here get infected... but many users on this forum who say they have malware on their PCs do not mention that their AV detected it... maybe resident scanner does not make a diffrence because ther isnt a signature for those specific ones (antivurus cannot detect it)

Believe me, AVG has relativley few FPs compared to other AVs. Have to also remember, all antiviruses have FPs now and then.

I've had AVG installed on my two lappies for over a year now and never ever had a problem with it.

Safe Surfer... Many times users get infected because they do silly things such as opening dodgy e-mails or shady sites/programs (maybe illegal software as well) or because of downloading programs which are fraudtools (vunado etc)...

My AV's only detected 5 malicious websites (exploits) where I didnt expected to be hit from... other times, my AVs detected lots of malware, but I knew I was going to get hit because of dodgy sites... and because I knew the sites/files were potentialy dangerous, I used Sandboxie (and sometimes VirusTotal as well) :)
