Add to bleachy water to make the bleach more effective? I've read it in a thread before but can't remember where... I know it's not vinegar cos it can give off nasty fumes. May be bicarb I'm not sure. HELP:D

  • Well done Math, will there be a ceremony and a speech?

I know that bleach and bicarb together are good for grubby grout, so is that your answer?
If I screw my eyes up tight I can just about see where you're coming from

Yup, bleach and bicarb made into a paste - apply and then rinse off (no toxic fumes) :D

Yes, if you mix bleach and bicarb and paint it on your grout with a dead toothbrush it works better than just bleach, it can smell a bit so windows open, I haven't tried it diluted so I'll have a go at that next time

OH shucks Queenie - you're a doll:A If I were going to add bicarb to me wash how much should I use? I'm currently adding 250ml of bleach to a 20 gallon washer tub fill and soaking for about an hour.

The post in the Zillions thread suggests...

Baking Soda. 1/4 to 1/2 cup baking soda per wash load
makes clothes feel soft and smell fresh.

Baking Soda. You can cut the amount of chlorine bleach
used in your wash by half when you add 1/2 cup baking soda to top loading machines or 1/4 cup to front loaders.

Can I ask what is a dead toothbrush and how does it differ from a live one. I need to know just in case I ever come across one.

Sorry could not resist that. I am in a silly mood tonight.
