Machine ruined my furniture

I just moved house and bought some new furniture from Ikea.
At the same time I noticed that a steam press I owned stopped working. It blew up when I plugged it in. I had had it for around 3 months. I contacted the seller via Amazon where it was bought and happily they sent out a new one same day which I received the next morning.
Opening the new machine I noticed that it was a little wet around where the water storage tank was, which was somewhat odd as it was supposed to be new.
In any case I tested it and it was fine so I placed it on top of my new unit and used it. When I returned home I found that the water tank had emptied all over my new unit so that its now stained and warped. It appears that the the water tank has a leak.
I've contacted the seller again to ask whether the unit was used previously and to inform them that the leak has ruined my literally brand new furniture (less than 3 days old).
They haven't responded.
Am I wrong to seek some form of compensation for (A) the machine which is faulty, and (B) the ruined furniture?

You're not wrong to request it, but you may have a fight on your hands. The standard warranty is unlikely to cover consequential damage, so small claims may have to be the way forward IMO.0

Does your house contents insurance not cover this?0

Prob have to claim on your contents insurance, don't forget if it was over £100 and you paid by credit card you can contact card issuer under section 750
