Misquote from scottish power
Options
I rang Scottish Power for a quote on a new deal and was informed that I could get the November 2015 dual fuel on-line for just £78 per month. My current deal isfor £111 per monyth. Thinking this was toogood to be true I ran a comparison on this site and withwhich?. They estimate that this deal would cost £98 and £94 per month.. A big difference. I have found in the past that suppliers tend to underestimate the cost of a deal at the start and then bump up the payment a few months later. This is clearly another case of mis-selling.

In the past I think suppliers have tried to temp customers by giving a lower monthly cost and then bumping it up later. I think that less of a practice today.
However, I always use actual usage in KWh for my comparisons. This is better than comparing cost per month as that is prone to error. If you have your actual KWh usage and run it on a few different comparison sites then you should be getting the same answers.
I would query SP and ask how they have come to that figure. It could be they are correct!0 -
i have used actual figures in my calculations based on annual usage.0

I have just switched to the Online November 2015 myself from their March 2015. The November 2015 is cheaper by about £50 per year on my existing March 2015 tariff.
You don't say whether your existing tariff is with SP or other provider, so it might be worth checking further how they came to their figures. If they give you the same figures again then it pretty much rules out a typing error etc so there would have to be some other explanation.0 -
Existing tariff is with Scottish Power, fixed to feb20160

No, it's not mis-selling as you haven't bought it.0 -

Well that effectively is two winters - this one and next. It will be more expensive then the November 2015 tariff so you would then be taking the gamble that prices dont rise between November and the following Feb.
The November tafiff does not have any exit fees so if your current tariff does then that might be an incentive. When I switched recently they calculated the monthly based on the usage they had for me since I joined them last November. I checked it and it is correct. They should have done the same for you so you might want to check with them if they have, and if so, then it should be reasonably accurate.0
