HSBC Question?

Just looking for advise if anyone can help?
Have had a problem getting a proper bank account for the past 4 years so been stuck with a Halifax cash card.
Recently applied to A&L and Co-op who both said no but sent leaflets on basic accounts.
Last week I applied for a HSBC bank account and after finishing the application online was told they would send me a letter.
Received it today and suprised it said they have opened the account. Just need to take ID into the branch.
On the letter it stated "Debit Card" as the facility. I only chose this and didnt go for overdraft cheque book etc.
My question is what type of debit card will they issue?

Don't think they do Solo.. That's just another Debit card isn't it though... Debit being the funtion Switch/Solo mearly being the brands...
i.e there is a Credit Card, but Mastercard is a brand.
Forgive me if I've got the wrong end of the stick but the HSBC debit card, is simply that.... If you ain't got the money in the account then it won't debit....
This applies to overdraft or not...
It would allow you to go overdrawn into an unauthorised overdraft, if you had an overdraft facility, but even there there would be a point when it simply didn't work anymore
.
It may be worth checking if there is a buffer overdraft facility on the account by default... Say 50 quid or something like that and if so what are the charges for this.... It may even be free, for a time....0 -
I had a solo card from HSBC when I was under sixten it then got upgraded to a Switch card so would guess it would be a Switch that you get.2020 Mortgage-Free Wannabes #20 £1495.03/£2760 OP0

The HSBC Overdraft/'Fair Fees' policy includes:- You will not have to pay fees for being overdrawn by £10 or less.
- You will not have to pay more in fees than you are overdrawn by in your charging month, so a £15 overdraft will not cost you £50.
- You will not have to pay a fee for an informal overdraft request if your account is credited with covering funds by the end of the same day.

I guess its always possible but I don't think its likely - when you take your id into your branch, you could always ask them what their systems show before proceeding with the application..
