Income support and full time college

I am currently still on income support and studying one day a week at college doing my level 2 AAT. There is talk of a full time course being started up doing a fast track level 2 and 3 AAT so it would only take me one year full time to complete instead of two years part time. The full time course is 3 days a week, 9.00 til 3.30. I have a child under the age of 5.

The full time course is free and I wouldn't be claiming any grants except for childcare. Would my income support be affected in any way? Any help much appreciated as I've tried to find out but it's quite conflicting, some say I'll be fine but others not. I'm just trying to better myself as my old industry was hospitality and with two children now and being a lone parent, I would struggle with the late nights.

from the information you have given you would still be entitled to Income Support as you are a single parent.

Any grant given for child care costs are not counted as income for IS.

Don't forget to notify IS and Tax Credits of the change of circumstances.
